F.A.Q.

How do I know if I need a preliminary consultation?

If you’ve recently had your hair done and need it fixed.

If you have a very specific goal in mind and want our process and technique explained in detail.

If you’re unsure about what you should do with your hair and want our knowledge and expertise to create a plan designed just for you.

What is the difference between balayage and highlights?

Softer, blended, dimensional lightness, blonde happens over time while maintaining hair’s integrity (really the only thing you should be doing).

Highlights are traditionally applied right to the root and visible regrowth needs to be maintained every 4-8 weeks.

What if I want more than just a soft lift?

Book a mega paint – it is a combination of blended balayage with the lift of foils.

Do you use Bond Builders when lightening the hair? (ie. Olaplex)

Absolutely, when necessary.

How should I show up for my hair appointment?

For a color service – clean, dry, straight hair (we need a smooth canvas to paint on). No headbands or ponytails.

Haircut – come as you are, we’ll take care of the rest.

How often should I be coming back?

As our specialty is in lengths past the hairline (bobs and longer), our clients typically come in every seasons to refresh, reshape, and redesign their haircuts.

Balayage – 4 to 6 months for blondes, 6 to 12 months for brunettes. We find 6 months is the SWEET SPOT. There is enough new growth for us to paint and bring up the blend, but still has some dimension left on the ends for us to build up the brightness.

Corrective balayage – as many times as needed.

Maintenance (glazes/glosses/toners) – most clients like to come in right after a vacation, or at the half-way mark until their next visit. Recommended but not required (if you're aiming for that ashy tone, expect to commit to monthly glosses)!

What about my sparkles (ie. grey hair/white hair)?

We gotchu girl. We recommend booking a separate appointment as covering grey and balayage on the same day can create a warmer than desired result. Think of it this way, you get to see us twice!
